It still doubles namebrand foods, especially if you adjust the portion size. Also, it does not retain information from previous days. I often have to go back and doublecheck that they are unchanged.
I really like this app! Its easy to log what I have eaten. Its easy to log my exercise. I also love how easy it is to look up what I can and can not eat on each phase of the diet.

Very easy to log all your meals. I loved all the recipes.
In the food journal, nothing I scan works (it comes up as item not found). When I type the description in manually, I can find some foods, but not all. This app would be better if users were able to add in new food items not found in South Beachs limited food database (such as a low carb TV dinner). However, The app is useful for looking to see which foods you can and cannot eat during a certain phase.
One of the primary uses of a MOBILE companion to the south beach diet should be to help you at the grocery store! This app: -does not allow you to favorite recipes on the device nor access the favorites you have marked on the website. -does not allow you to sort recipes according to phase, meal, (breakfast/lunch/etc), or anything else for that matter. -allow you to create a grocery list(!?!?) or access to your grocery list at southbeachdiet.com I could go on, but it would be overkill. The bottom line? The app syncs to my account on the south beach website, but doesnt allow or enable any useful MOBILE benefit from it. Total waste of memory.
This diet is one of the only diets where I lost weight. This app was helpful. It helps you know what foods to eat and keep track of fat, carbs etc. However a lot of the foods I ate were not in their system. It was time consuming adding all my own foods and nutrition info. I would scan items and they werent in system. Other than that though it was helpful.
This app has been very helpful in showing me exactly the values or negatives day by day of everything I consume. Before journaling my food & beverage intake I had zero idea. Biggest surprise was the fat & saturated fat-its everywhere. Second surprise is that the calorie totals are easier to manage than the fat totals. While I am not hugely fat I have very high cholesterol. Now with doctors supervision I have begun medication and I can manage food sources with help from this app. I have had an Apple Watch for 30 days and am tracking steps, sleep, etc and I would like South Beach to sync nutrition & weight management. I offer myself to test the utility & efficacy if you develop one.
I love the South Beach Diet, and I subscribed to the recipe service so that I can create a future meal plan on my phone each week. However, the App does not let you create your own meal plan, or even let you mark recipes as favorites like the website does. It is frustrating to look through recipes and not be able to mark which ones you like.
Works ok but should be much better for 4.99 a week...would love to see way to submit feature requests and see app enhancements but working for my need
I got this because I am a big iPhone user and its better than writing it down after looking for the calories independently. I love how everything is in one place. I am absolutely getting the subscription because Im just 3 days shy of phase 2! This app has helped me and a SBD group on fb. Love having this available as a resource!

All of a sudden, it wont save my entries. Two days so far…any suggestions?
App will not build a meal plan. Tells me its loading, has error and says try again, but it never creates a plan! Meal plan was z big reason I purchased app. Will not renew
Doesnt save foods on your daily log. You actually have to go into add to see your previously added, then it puts them back up. I did my first entry today, and it didnt save it. I added a food and it didnt save that. Thank goodness I have other apps that save for me. I wont be doing any in-app purchases until all the bugs are fixed. Ive done the South Beach Diet before, so trying this app was a no-brainer for me. However, this app makes the whole thing look like a joke.
This app is difficult to manage and for creating/developing meal plans. Tracking food and exercises is pretty tedious as well.
I started using this almost a week ago and have been largely satisfied. Ive followed the South Beach plan off and on for many years so I am familiar with the principles. I like the journal but it doesnt support bar codes from Trader Joes where I get a lot of food. I have also been doing 7 minute workout and it doesnt really give calorie burn estimates for that either. The few recipes are good. I dont plan on paying for more because you can always find more South Beach friendly recipes online.
This is the best app Ive ever downloaded! It is so helpful in planning my meals ! Ive lost 4lbs so far this week !
