South Beach Diet ® App Reviews

Dont bother

Ive purchased for one week but wont renew. The recipes have no instructions.

Accuracy

Im using this App, but Im not entirely sure about its accuracy as the bar code scanner isnt working for most of my items, even though they are popular items like Tre Stella Ricotta Cheese, Silk Unsweetened almond milk, etc

South Beach

The scanner does not work on Canadian products My Fitness Pal has a more extensive list of foods & exercise Logging food in journal more cumbersome than My Fitness Pal

Helpful free version

As a free version is helpful for what it is, which is give enough information to follow the diet. I dont bother logging in foods as thats the part I normally fail at so I cannot rate how well that feature works. But I like that the basic guide on how to do the diet is right there and if Im out I can quickly look up what I can eat.

Just ok

I was initially impressed with food content tracking. But I have lost my data at least once a week it takes a lot if time to track it and it didnt get saved somehow.

Great help but unstable and needs more flexibility

This app often crashes for no apparent reason. Also: it needs a section where you can tell the app what foods you dont like!! For instance, the first days dinner was a bean recipe.... I F&$king hate beans! Id like to be able to click on the dinner option and select a different meal or have a "dislike" and a "like" button where the app remembers what Ive chosen

Great but crashes

Great way to track calories and keep you accountable for what youre eating. But keeps deleting the info you put in, which defeats the purpose. Its disappointing as it worked very well for the first week or so...

Hard to use

Cant see the recipes from the meal planner and journal on the iPad version. The iPhone version is a bit easier to use. Would like to be able to alter the recipes in the journal, for example if the recipe calls for 2 poached eggs and I only eat one, I would like to be able to change it in my journal. Right now, Im flipping back and forth between the south beach diet app and myfitnesspal because the functionality is better in mfp but I want the menu in south beach. The south beach website works better than any of the device app versions, but its still not very intuitive.

Great customer support!

App switched back into sample mode for no apparent reason. Ive had a subscription for 4 weeks now, and my subscription says active in my iTunes account but for some reason I cant log in anymore in full access mode. It keeps telling me my subscription has expired (but it hasnt) so now I cant access the menus. Customer support was able to create a new account for me and solve the problem. But little tip, its probably better to subscribe directly through south beach rather than go through iTunes.

Worst search capacity ever!

Its not such an advantage having all those recipes when you have to search by scrolling. For a paid app this should have an ingredient search capacity.

Whats the point?

Can no longer register? If you can no longer register on the South Beach site, you cant see info for the other phases! Whats the point of seeing info for phase 1 only? This app becomes absolutely useless very quickly. Can I give -1 stars?

Cant re-set starting date!

Set out nicely, easy to understand, but very quickly u get lots of advertisements offering to join the Full Plan which is a weekly fee, otherwise the number of recipes offered to u is quite limited. Also, if you input some details you are automatically started on Phase One of the diet, and you cannot change it!! This was very annoying as I wasnt ready to start there and then, but needed a couple of days to prepare - the diet requires quite a shift in eating patterns for Phase 1...But the app was already counting down the days and sending reminders to log in the food eaten etc on the log / journal. If it was easy to re-set the start date, I would be pretty happy with this app I think. I tried contacting Sth Beach customer service - ( 2 email addresses) but only getting automated replies...... If its so great, I think they need to stand behind their product and improve their customer-care.

Simply great!

Useful, with all the needed informations. Really great!

Great app: its worth it if only for the food journal.

Im happy with it and use it daily. It works whether youre following the South Beach diet or not: for me its the best food journal app out there. The only issue is with imperial and metric system: most of the food is in ounces and I have issues adding food. My iPhone 5 is set with the metric system, so the app doesnt recognize "," and the mark for decimals but the separator for thousands, forcing me to multiply all values for the food I add.

Drops data

I was loving this until, after about a week, it started losing the info is entered. I still like it for tracking today, but its useless for looking at what Ive done over time since I never know what itll save and what it will lose.

The best

Excellent way of eating and very generous free app...also love the bars.. But hard to find..

No support

I cant get the app working on my iPad. It doesnt show that I have a subscription. There is no contact info for help.

Best Recipes for non planners

I love the recipes in this app. Meal planning is done for you.

Last update

The app worked great until the last update the other day that deleted all my saved information.
